One-to-One Workshops

Topics covered will include shooting in manual mode, the exposure triangle, using the histogram to ensure optimum exposure, exposure bracketing, shooting in RAW, white balance and color temperature, understanding focus and depth of field, composition techniques, and more.

A typical workshop lasts approximately 7-8 hours and includes a mid-morning (or mid-afternoon) snack/drink break. NOTE: your start and finish time will vary depending on whether you choose a sunrise or sunset workshop.

Meeting Point and Park Entry

  • The workshop starts at the Joshua Tree National Park Headquarters (74485 National Park Drive, Twentynine Palms, CA 92277) - see ///dance.rainbow.grafting for location. We’ll meet in the headquarters parking lot - timing varies depending on sunset time. The start time for your chosen workshop date is displayed in the workshop calendar and will be detailed in your confirmation email. NOTE: Headquarters is located just outside downtown Twentynine Palms. Please use the address given above when navigating with your GPS.

  • NOTE: Joshua Tree National Park charges a $15.00 per person entry fee. Clients may use their park pass (if they have one) or pay by credit card. Please purchase your entry passes before arriving at the park through recreation.gov to speed up the entry process.

Itinerary

NOTE: The itinerary is subject to change if required based on weather and lighting conditions or unforeseen circumstances, including floods, fires, national park closures, road closures, etc.

  • Before heading into the park, we’ll review the itinerary and answer any questions you may have.

  • Sunrise, morning, afternoon, and sunset field classes (depending on your choice) at two to four locations within the park (locations may vary based on weather and lighting conditions).

  • Topics covered will include shooting in manual mode, the exposure triangle, using the histogram to ensure optimum exposure, exposure bracketing, shooting in RAW, white balance and color temperature, understanding focus and depth of field, composition techniques, and more.

  • Drop participants back at the Joshua Tree National Park Headquarters.
